Abstract

Post-pandemic lifestyle shifts, combined with the preferences of Generation Z and Millennials regarding gathering spots, have altered the operational direction of the MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition) industry. This phenomenon has spurred the use of public creative spaces as versatile venues capable of accommodating both the needs of the creative industry and the hosting of various events simultaneously. This study examines the functionality and suitability of public creative spaces using Pos Bloc Jakarta as a case study as alternative venues for MICE activities. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study gathered data through direct Field Observations and In-Depth Interviews, validated via source triangulation. Information was collected from three key stakeholders: internal management (Pos Bloc Marketing), policymakers (Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy), and technical implementers (Event Organizers). Data analysis confirms that Pos Bloc Jakarta is highly suitable as a venue for small- to medium-scale MICE events. This suitability is supported by the venue's adaptable spaces and the application of an experience-based tourism concept. However, its physical characteristics as a heritage building present unique challenges, requiring event organizers to be creative and dynamic in managing visitor flow and crowd dynamics.
