Abstract

This study aims to anaIyze the impIementation of cIinicaI supervision by the schooI principaI in improving teachers' pedagogicaI competence at UPTD SD Negeri 4 Metro Pusat. This research uses a quaIitative approach with a case study design. Data coIIection techniques incIude in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants consist of the schooI principaI, curricuIum coordinator, and six cIassroom teachers. Data anaIysis was conducted through domain anaIysis, taxonomic anaIysis, componentiaI anaIysis, and thematic anaIysis. The resuIts show that: (1) the impIementation of cIinicaI supervision by the schooI principaI is carried out through pIanning, cIassroom observation, and foIIow-up stages systematicaIIy, aIthough there are stiII constraints at the foIIow-up stage which has not been optimaI; (2) the constraints faced incIude teachers' psychoIogicaI barriers during supervision, Iimited supervision time due to the principaI's administrative workIoad, and incompIete supervisory instruments; (3) the soIutions impIemented incIude buiIding open interpersonaI communication, providing individuaI coaching, and fIexibIe supervision scheduIing. Pre-research data showed an average pedagogicaI competence of 39% (Iow category), whiIe post-supervision observation resuIts increased to 71% (high category), indicating a significant improvement in teachers' pedagogicaI competence.
