Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is one of the reproductive health problems commonly experienced by adolescent girls and may affect daily activities, quality of life, and academic achievement. The high prevalence of dysmenorrhea at both global and national levels indicates the need for effective management efforts, one of which is through health education. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of warm compress education in improving adolescents' knowledge of dysmenorrhea management in the working area of Pilohayanga Public Health Center. This study employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design, using a one-group pre-test and post-test. The research sample consisted of 32 adolescent girls who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using a questionnaire to assess knowledge levels before and after the educational intervention. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed an increase in adolescents' knowledge after receiving education on warm compresses as a non-pharmacological method for managing dysmenorrhea, with a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05). Good knowledge was influenced by the effectiveness of education and by the information received, both orally and in writing. In conclusión, education on warm compresses was effective in improving adolescents' knowledge of dysmenorrhea management.
