Abstract

Effective communication is a fundamental competency for healthcare professionals in delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between effective communication and professional ethics among healthcare professionals in hospitals using a literature review approach. A literature search was conducted through Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Garuda, and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), focusing on publications published between 2016 and 2026. A total of 10 articles that met the predetermined inclusion criteria were selected and analyzed using a narrative synthesis approach. The findings indicate that effective communication is associated with the implementation of professional ethics, improved patient safety, patient satisfaction, therapeutic relationships, and interprofessional collaboration. The implementation of structured communication methods, such as SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation), contributes to strengthening patient safety culture and improving the quality of hospital services. In conclusion, effective communication represents a practical implementation of the ethical principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, justice, and fidelity in healthcare practice. Therefore, strengthening communication competencies among healthcare professionals is essential for supporting ethical practice, patient safety, and the overall quality of hospital services.Kata kunci:Komunikasi efektif; Etika profesi; Tenaga kesehatan; Rumah sakit; Literature review
