Abstract

Digital waqf has undergone rapid conceptual and technological development in Indonesia and Malaysia, driven by national digital finance agendas and the growing role of Islamic social finance. This study maps the intellectual landscape of digital waqf research by identifying thematic patterns, comparing national research orientations, and examining the technological and institutional dynamics shaping research trajectories in both countries. A combined bibliometric analysis and systematic literature review was conducted using publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. Keyword co-occurrence networks generated through VOSviewer were used to identify major thematic clusters, followed by structured literature screening to interpret the emerging conceptual trends. The findings reveal that Indonesian studies predominantly emphasize technological experimentation, governance transformation, and the integration of digital waqf with broader Islamic social finance instruments. Malaysian research, meanwhile, focuses more extensively on fintech-based waqf systems, crowdfunding models, and behavioral factors influencing cash waqf participation, including literacy initiatives targeting younger generations. These differences reflect variations in technological ecosystems, institutional maturity, and strategic policy orientations. Digital platforms contribute to greater transparency, participation, and operational efficiency in waqf management. Future studies should expand database coverage, employ advanced scientometric techniques, and incorporate qualitative approaches to deepen the theoretical and practical understanding of digital waqf development.
