Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the storytelling method in improving early childhood expressive language skills. The study employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through classroom observations and in-depth interviews involving five teachers, ten parents, and twenty young children. The findings at KB Ishlahul Ummah showed that storytelling positively contributed to the development of children’s expressive language. The children demonstrated improved vocabulary, greater confidence in expressing ideas, enhanced creative imagination, and better social understanding through activities involving turn-taking and listening to peers. These findings confirm that storytelling functions not only as a method of delivering stories but also as an effective and contextual pedagogical strategy for supporting early childhood communication development. This study provides empirical evidence for the development of early childhood language learning and enriches the academic literature on storytelling as a strategy for enhancing children’s communication skills.
