Abstract

Land degradation remains a critical issue in Indonesia. One of the primary causes of land degradation is inappropriate land management practices by farmers, which may result in the deterioration of soil structure and increased susceptibility to water erosion. This study aims to analyze the effect of livelihood asset factors on the decision of horticultural farmers in Sumberbrantas Village to adopt soil and water conservation practices. A quantitative approach was employed, using a multistage sampling method to determine the study location and simple random sampling based on the Taro Yamane formula, resulting in a sample of 95 respondents. Primary data were collected through interviews and field observations, complemented by secondary data from literature review. Data analysis was conducted using logistic regression with Stata 17 to examine the influence of livelihood asset factors on farmers’ adoption decisions. The results indicate that years of education, farming experience, frequency of extension services, participation in farmer groups, land size, and access to inputs have a positive and statistically significant effect on the adoption of soil and water conservation practices. In contrast, access to credit has a negative and statistically significant effect on adoption decisions.
