Abstract

Public open spaces in the form of city parks play a crucial role in improving environmental quality while shaping the image of urban areas. Jebres Smart Park in Surakarta is a public facility that integrates educational, recreational, and social functions, requiring an optimal maintenance strategy for supporting facilities. However, various problems remain in its management, including facility damage, lack of regular maintenance, and limited management, which have led to a decline in the park's quality and image. Similar issues also occur in other city parks, where facilities such as playgrounds, seating, and lighting often experience damage due to suboptimal maintenance systems. This study aims to analyze the maintenance strategy for supporting facilities as an effort to improve the image of Jebres Smart Park. The method used is a descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and questionnaires with visitors and park managers. Good facility maintenance has been shown to be an important factor in shaping visitor perceptions and satisfaction with city parks, as the quality of landscape and facility management significantly influences user comfort and assessment. The results of the study indicate that planned and sustainable maintenance strategies, such as improving the quality of facilities, improving the maintenance system, and community involvement, can significantly increase the park's attractiveness and image. Conversely, suboptimal maintenance can reduce the park's function as a safe and comfortable public space. Thus, an integrated maintenance strategy is needed to improve the image of city parks and support their decommissioning. This aligns with previous research that emphasized that optimizing the use and management of city parks contributes to improving the quality of life for residents and the desirability of urban environments.
