Abstract

Blue crab (Portunus pelagicus) is one of the products of the fisheries sector that has great economic potential. The goal of this research is to recognize the alteration of length, width, weight of crab and recognize the ratio of the number of male and female crabs in the coastal waters of Pangkalan Susu. This research was conducted in May - June 2023 in the coastal waters of Pangkalan Susu, Langkat Regency. The research method used in this research is observation. The collection of crab information includes information on the width and weight dimensions of the crab. The results of this research showed that 172 crabs were observed which included 79 male crabs 93 female crabs with a percentage of 46% male crabs and 54% female crabs, crabs caught in the coastal waters of Pangkalan Susu, had a development that was characterized by negative allometric growth by showing a value of 1.39 in male crabs and 1.33 in female crabs. So it is known that the development of width growth is faster than the development of weight.
