Abstract

Computed Tomography (CT) Stonography is an imaging modality with high sensitivity and specificity for detecting urolithiasis. One of the parameters affecting CT image quality is slice thickness, which influences spatial resolution, contrast resolution, and image noise. This study aimed to analyze the effect of slice thickness variation on the image quality of CT Stonography in urolithiasis cases at the Radiology Installation of RSUD Sanjiwani Gianyar. This quantitative study employed an analytic observational approach. The study sample consisted of CT Stonography images reconstructed from three patients with urolithiasis using slice thicknesses of 1 mm, 3 mm, and 5 mm. Image quality assessment was performed by two radiologists based on spatial resolution, contrast resolution, and noise parameters. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Cohen’s Kappa test, and Friedman test with a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05). The results showed that the 1 mm slice thickness produced the highest mean image quality score (9.00), followed by 3 mm (7.50) and 5  mm (6.00). Cohen’s Kappa test yielded a Kappa value of 0.400, indicating fair agreement between the two radiologists. Friedman test results showed a significance value (p-value) of 0.050, indicating a significant effect of slice thickness variation on CT Stonography image quality. It can be concluded that slice thickness variation affects CT Stonography image quality in urolithiasis cases, with 1 mm slice thickness providing the best image quality compared to 3 mm and 5 mm slice thicknesses.
