Abstract

Bandung is one of Indonesia's leading tourist destinations, attracting a high volume of visitors and creating intense competition within the hospitality industry. Alongside this growth, high employee turnover has become a significant challenge for hotels in retaining competent personnel and maintaining service quality. This study aims to evaluate the conditions of work discipline, workload, and turnover intention, as well as to examine the effects of work discipline and workload on turnover intention among employees of Grand Hotel Preanger Bandung as an empirical representation of the hospitality industry in Bandung. A quantitative approach employing descriptive and explanatory methods was adopted. The study involved all 83 employees as respondents using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, partial (t) tests, simultaneous (F) tests, and the coefficient of determination. The findings reveal that work discipline is categorized as low, while workload and turnover intention are categorized as high. Work discipline has no significant effect on turnover intention, contributing only 0.4% to its variance. In contrast, workload has a positive and significant effect, explaining 16.6% of the variance in turnover intention. Simultaneously, work discipline and workload account for 15.4% of the variance in turnover intention, while the remaining 84.6% is explained by other factors beyond the scope of this study. These findings suggest that workload management is a more effective strategy for reducing turnover intention than improving work discipline alone.
