Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a major staple crop in Indonesia, but its production has declined, requiring efforts to improve plant growth. This study aimed to determine the effect of humic acid application and varietal differences on the vegetative growth of rice. The experiment was arranged in a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design with two factors: humic acid doses (0, 30, and 60 g/plot) and rice varieties (Inpari 32, Inpari 16 Pasundan, and IR64), with three replications. Observed parameters included plant height, number of tillers, fresh and dry weight of shoots, and roots. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at a 5% significance level. The results showed that humic acid sign ificantly affected all growth parameters, with the best result at 60 g/plot. Varietal differences affected only some parameters, while the interaction was not significant. Humic acid improved plant growth by enhancing soil properties and nutrient availability.
