Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of monthly routine recitation and explain its role in strengthening the Islamic ukhuwah in the Sulit Air Sepakat (SAS) migrant community in South Bengkulu. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with 11 informants consisting of administrators, speakers, active pilgrims, inactive pilgrims, and IPPSA representatives, as well as organizational documentation. The analysis was carried out through the process of coding, category grouping, and theme development, while the validity of the data was maintained through triangulation of sources and techniques, member checking, and discussions with peers. The results of the study showed that recitation was carried out through role sharing, a rotating place system, routine communication, and cross-generational involvement. The strengthening of ukhuwah Islamiyah can be seen in the practice of friendship, eating together, attention to sick or bereaved members, social assistance, and efforts to maintain connection with members who are rarely present. The findings also show the work of social capital through networking, trust, mutual relationships, and mutual help habits. However, the participation of members is still influenced by the distance of residence, work, family busyness, and hesitation after not participating in activities for a long time. This study confirms that routine recitation in nomadic communities not only functions as a space for religious learning, but also as a mechanism for maintaining solidarity, belonging, and social resilience of the community.
