Abstract

Learning that integrates local wisdom has not been optimally implemented, resulting in instructional practices that are not yet fully contextualized and do not adequately support students' character development. This condition highlights the need for innovative learning approaches that connect instructional content with the local cultural context. This study aims to analyze the implementation of local wisdom based flash card media in the Merdeka Curriculum and examine its implications for students' learning outcomes. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving elementary school teachers and students as research participants. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis using observation sheets, interview guidelines, and document analysis forms as research instruments. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that the use of local wisdom-based flash card media creates more contextual learning, enhances students' engagement, facilitates the understanding of science concepts, and supports character development through the integration of local cultural values. The study concludes that local wisdom based flash card media constitute an effective instructional strategy for promoting meaningful and student centered learning. The findings also imply that this instructional media provides an alternative approach for teachers to implement the Merdeka Curriculum by integrating science concept mastery with character development grounded in local wisdom.
