Abstract

Early childhood education is not only the responsibility of educational institutions but also requires active parental involvement in accompanying children and providing developmental stimulation at school and at home. In practice, parental involvement in children’s learning activities at home still needs improvement. Parents’ busy schedules and limited knowledge of simple learning activities appropriate for children’s age may result in less optimal developmental stimulation. Therefore, simple, enjoyable activities that involve parents directly are needed. This community service activity aimed to increase parents’ involvement in accompanying their children while stimulating creativity and fine motor skills through finger painting activities. The activity took place at TK Pertiwi Badak, Badak Village, Belik District, Pemalang Regency, and involved children, parents, teachers, and KKN students. The method used was a participatory approach and direct practice (learning by doing) through several stages, including preparation, coordination with the school, demonstration, finger painting practice, appreciation of children’s artwork, and evaluation. The results showed that the children were enthusiastic about participating in the finger painting activity and had opportunities to explore colors and express their creativity through imagination. The activity also stimulated children’s fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. In addition, parental involvement during the activity created positive. Interactions between parents and children and provided parents with practical experience regarding the importance of accompanying children during the learning process. Finger painting can therefore serve as a simple, enjoyable, and easy-to-implement parenting activity at school and at home to support early childhood development and increase parental involvement in children’s education
