Background: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory airway disease characterized by recurrent shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, and coughing. The prevalence of asthma in Indonesia is 4.5%, while in Lampung Province it is 1.6%, with a recurrence rate of 64.7%. At Bintang Amin Hospital, Bandar Lampung, asthma cases at the Pulmonary Clinic increased from 1,087 cases in 2023 to 1,169 cases in 2025. Medication adherence is one of the factors that may influence asthma control. Purpose: To determine the relationship between medication adherence and asthma control among patients with asthma at Bintang Amin Hospital, Bandar Lampung. Method: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 1,169 asthma patients at the Pulmonary Clinic of Bintang Amin Hospital, Bandar Lampung, in 2025. A total of 298 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the 8-item Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) to assess medication adherence and the Asthma Control Test (ACT) to assess asthma control. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test. Results: Overall, 50.7% of patients had controlled asthma and 49.3% had uncontrolled asthma, while 55.4% were adherent to their medication and 44.6% were non-adherent. A significant relationship was found between medication adherence and asthma control (p = 0.000; p < 0.05). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between medication adherence and asthma control among patients with asthma at Bintang Amin Hospital, Bandar Lampung. Continuous education, communication, and support are needed to improve medication adherence and achieve better asthma control.
