Abstract

ABSTRACT Background : Spinal anesthesia is a type of regional anesthesia frequently used due to its relatively simple technique and its effectiveness in providing sensory and motor blockade. A cold compress is a method that involves applying low temperatures to an area of the body to reduce pain. Objective : to determine the effectiveness of cold compresses on the intensity of pain caused by spinal needle insertion in patients undergoing surgery with spinal anesthesia. Research methods : A quasi-experimental method. It employs a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design, involving measurements taken before and after the intervention across two groups. Population : The study population consisted of all patients undergoing surgery under spinal anesthesia. Research Instrument : Using pre-test to post-test observation sheets. Data analysis used : In this study, the researcher using univariate and bivariate data analysis. Result : This study demonstrates that cold compress therapy has a significant impact on reducing pain levels in patient. In the intervention group—where a cold compress at 10°C was applied to the spinal needle insertion site for 10 minutes—the majority of respondents (10 or 71.4%) experienced mild pain. In contrast, within the control group that did not receive the cold compress intervention, 8 respondents (57.1%) experienced moderate pain. Conclusion : Cold compress therapy has an effect on patients undergoing surgery with spinal anesthesia at Kartini Karanganyar Hospital; however, there is no significant difference in the intensity of pain caused by spinal needle insertion between the intervention group and the control group.

Abstract

Background: Ceflurane, which is a halogenated ether, is packaged in liquid form, colorless, non-explosive, odorless and non-irritating so it is good for inhalation induction. Research objective: To find out the effect of sevoflurane on blood pressure in patients under general anesthesia. Research Method: The design of this study is a quantitative type using a descriptive approach with a population of 36 people The sample used in this study is purposive sampling with as many as 33 respondents This research was conducted at Ibnu Sina Hospital,Gresik Regency during February-May 2024. The variable in this study is an overview of the effect of sevoflurane on blood pressure. results: An overview of the effect of sevoflurane on blood pressure showed that of the 33 respondents, they had a blood pressure of 15 minutes after being given sevoflurane with an average of 113.36, a median of 114.00, a standard deviation of 10.977 with the blood pressure of general patients after being given sevoflurane at least 93 mmHg and a maximum of 140 mmHg. Conclusion: Based on the study, the picture of the effect of sevoflurane on blood pressure in general anesthesia patients decreased.
