Abstract

This research aims to describe the improvement in cognitive learning outcomes of students at SMA Negeri 6 Pekanbaru on optical instruments through the application of the TGT (Teams Games Tournament) type cooperative learning model in the form of domino cards. The type of research used is QuasiExperimental. The research sample consisted of 35 students from class XI MIPA 3 as the control class and 36 students from class XI MIPA 4 as the experimental class. The instrument in this research is a written test on optical instruments, totaling 25 objective questions. The cognitive learning results of students by comparing the average scores of the experimental class and the control class obtained an average of 81.11 with a very high category in the experimental class while an average of 63.20 with a medium category in the control class. Overall, it can be concluded that the TGT-type cooperative learning model in the form of card media can improve the physics cognitive learning outcomes of class XI students at SMA Negeri 6 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of ethnoscience-based learning methods of Pacu Jalur Tradition on the cognitive abilities of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kuantan Hilir. The methodology used in this research is quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent post-test design. Samples were analyzed randomly after normality and homogeneity tests were completed to determine the experimental group and control group. This research used test instruments in the form of multiple-choice questions about cognitive abilities. Analysis of research data using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. The results of the independent sample t-test hypothesis test on cognitive abilities are shown with a significance level of 0.002 ≤ 0.05. There is a significant difference in students' cognitive abilities between ethnoscience-based learning in the Pacu Jalur Tradition and conventional classes. Learning based on the Pacu Jalur Tradition is effective in improving the cognitive abilities of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kuantan Hilir on the kinematics of straight motion.
