Abstract

Monitoring hemoglobin levels and understanding blood group identity are essential aspects of supporting physical health and medical literacy among school-aged adolescents. This community service project aimed to facilitate blood health education (covering ABO systems, Rhesus factor, and anemia prevention), map ABO blood group phenotypes, and detect hemoglobin status among state Islamic senior high school (MAN) students. The implementation combined visual-based interactive education and health screening (blood pressure, direct agglutination ABO grouping, and digital capillary Hb testing). Education was attended by 59 students, with 28 students (47.46%) consenting to health screening, while 31 students (52.54%) declined due to needle phobia (trypanophobia). ABO screening results revealed phenotype distribution dominated by type O (39.29%), A (32.14%), B (25.00%), and AB (3.57%). Hemoglobin testing showed 78.57% normal and 21.43% anemic (17.86% mild; 3.57% moderate). Education and screening effectively expanded blood health awareness and provided baseline student health data in school settings.
