Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that affects children's growth and development; therefore, preventive efforts are necessary through the empowerment of health cadres. This community service activity, conducted by students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) of the University of Borneo Tarakan and their field supervisor lecturers in Malinau Kota Village, aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of cadres in stunting prevention through baby and child massage training at the Kusuma Jaya Integrated Health Post (Posyandu). A total of 54 participants, consisting of posyandu cadres and students, took part in this activity. The methods employed included health education sessions, group discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice using mannequins and actual infants. The training materials covered stunting, baby massage techniques, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and choking management for infants and children. The results indicated a significant improvement in the participants' understanding and skills in performing baby massage and managing choking incidents. Ultimately, this activity supports the empowerment of health cadres by enhancing their preparedness to provide health education and services to the community.
