Abstract

Background: Water is essential for human life, as it supports all daily activities. Interventions to ensure safe drinking water involve safeguarding water quality from the supplier to the consumer. Objective: To analyze water quality at drinking water depots in Girimaya District, Pangkal Pinang City, in 2026. Methods: This study is a qualitative descriptive study supported by laboratory tests to measure physical (TDS, odor, and taste), chemical (pH), and microbiological (Escherichia coli) water quality. The study utilized a single variable, and the results are presented in descriptive form. Findings: The results of the physical (TDS), chemical, and microbiological quality tests from 9 depot samples all met the standards. Regarding the microbiological quality test results, 8 depots met the standards, while one depot DAM 04 did not meet the standards because it contained E. coli, with a laboratory test result of 2/100 ml. Implications: Managers of water depots with acidic pH results (TMS) are advised to install a neutralizing device in the filtration system to raise the water’s pH to meet standards, as well as to re-evaluate facility sanitation, equipment sanitation, and personal hygiene to ensure the quality of the water produced remains safe for public consumption.
