Abstract

The main background of this study is the crucial role of the Gilimanuk – Mengwi corridor as a vital logistics route that distributes more than 70% of Bali's essential goods, where the increasing volume of freight vehicles has triggered overdimensional (OD) issues that negatively impact traffic safety and infrastructure conditions. To address this challenge, lecturers and students of the Bali Land Transportation Polytechnic developed a real-time–based Over Dimension Estimator device to detect vehicle dimension violations quickly and accurately. This study employs a descriptive statistical method. The research was conducted by collecting sample data from freight vehicles passing through the Gilimanuk – Mengwi corridor over a two-month period. The analysis results show that the total proportion of vehicles detected as overdimensional reached 38.12% of the overall sample. The weekly distribution of OD percentages varies between 35% and 45%, indicating that nearly half of the sampled vehicle population potentially violated dimensional limits. These findings provide a basis for relevant authorities to enhance vehicle dimension monitoring and to enforce FOH and ROH regulations more consistently.
