Abstract

Background: The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia remains a significant challege in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets. One of the efforts to reduce it is through the Birth Planning and Coplication Prevention program (P4K), which includes postpartum family planning (KB) planning. Although implant contraception has high effectiveness (>99%) and is safe for breastfeeding mothers, its coverage at the Wangon I Health Center is still low (22.67%), blow the national target of 28.39%. This is influenced by the low level of knowledge among pregnant women regarding this methode. Objective: To determine the effect of education using the Decision-Making Aid (ABPK) on pregnant women's knowledge regarding postpartum contraceptive implants at Wangon I Public Health Center. Methods: This is  a quantitative study with a pre-experimen design using a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 85 prenant women in their second and third trimesters, selected using consecutive sampling. The research instrumen was a knowledge questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon statistical test. Results: Univariate analysis showed that before the intervention, the majority of respondents had a moderate level of knowledge (88.4%) with a mean score of 67.33. After receiving education through ABPK media, respondents’ knowledge levels significantly increased to the good category (61.6%) with a mean score of 76.89. Statistical test showed a significant difference between knowledge levels before and after the intervention with a p-value <0.05. Conclusion: Education using Decision-Making Tools (ABPK) has a significant effect on increasing pregnan women’s knowledge about postpartum implant contraception. Health workers, especially midwives, are encouraged to optimize the use of ABPK in family planning counseling starting from pregnancy to increase te coverage of long-term contraceptive mothods (MKJP).
