Abstract

This study aims to answer the following research questions: (1) does work-life balance (WLB) affect employee performance, and (2) does work engagement affect employee performance at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Tasikmalaya. The research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory and cross-sectional design. The population consisted of all employees in the observed branch, totaling 46 persons, who were selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring WLB, work engagement, and employee performance, and were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that WLB is perceived at a fairly good level, while work engagement and employee performance are at a high level. Inferentially, WLB has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, and work engagement likewise has a positive and significant effect on performance. Simultaneously, WLB and work engagement explain 61.0% of the variance in employee performance, while the remaining 39.0% is influenced by other factors outside the model. These findings indicate that improving employee performance in the banking sector is not only determined by technical aspects of the job, but also by the organizations ability to create a healthy work-life balance and foster strong work engagement through appropriate human resource management policies and practices. Keywords: work-life balance; work engagement; employee performance.

Abstract

This study aims to answer whether operating costs, proxied by the operating expense ratio (BOPO), and the Debt to Assets Ratio (DAR) affect the profitability of agricultural sector companies, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA), both partially and simultaneously. The research employs a quantitative descriptiveverificative approach using secondary data from the annual financial statements of eight agricultural firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 20202022, yielding 24 firm-year observations. Samples were selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 25, preceded by classical assumption tests including normality, linearity, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation. The empirical results show that BOPO and DAR jointly have a significant effect on ROA, whereas individually neither BOPO nor DAR exhibits a statistically significant effect at the 5% level. The coefficient of determination (R) of 27.2% indicates that the combination of BOPO and DAR explains only a portion of the variation in profitability, while the remaining variation is driven by other factors outside the model. These findings imply that, in the agricultural industry, cost efficiency and capital structure remain relevant, but they are not sufficient as standalone bases for managerial or investment decisions without considering additional internal and external determinants. Keywords: operating costs, Debt to Assets Ratio, Return On Asset.
