Abstract

Islamic religious education in Indonesia has undergone various changes influenced by the existing political dynamics. Indications of problems that arise are related to the influence of political history on the implementation of Islamic religious education policies that vary from the colonial period to the Reformation. This research aims to analyze the influence of political history on Islamic religious education policies in Indonesia and how these changes affect the curriculum and the way religion is taught. The research method used is a qualitative approach with the type of historical study, which relies on data collection techniques through documentation studies and in-depth interviews. The findings show that Islamic religious education policy in Indonesia has always been influenced by political changes, both in terms of curriculum, character building and religious teaching. Political transformation, especially after the Reformation, provides opportunities for a more inclusive and moderate Islamic religious education, but it is still faced with the challenges of social diversity and technological development.
