Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership model of the madrasah principal in increasing teacher motivation in learning activities in the classroom of MTs Nurul Hidayah Al Amin. The leadership of the madrasah principal has an important role in directing, fostering, and motivating teachers to be able to carry out learning tasks optimally. Leadership is not only manifested as administrative skills, but also as a process that influences, provides examples, and builds teacher work motivation through a humanistic and religious approach. This research is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach. The research was conducted at MTs Nurul Hidayah Al Amin with the research subjects being the madrasah principal and teachers. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, as well as drawing conclusions and verification to obtain in-depth and easy-to-understand research results. The results show that the madrasah principal applies a transformational leadership model combined with a religious approach. This leadership model is realized through providing motivation, discipline training, open communication, exemplary attitudes, and the creation of a conducive work climate. Teacher motivation in learning activities is influenced by intrinsic factors in the form of awareness of professional responsibility and extrinsic factors in the form of support and attention from the madrasah principal. This leadership model is able to increase teacher motivation in carrying out learning activities in the classroom more optimally.
