Abstract

The 2024 has a variety of criticisms and problems, especially regarding the use of SIREKAP (Election Recapitulation Information System). The SIREKAP issue is related to public trust in election results. This research uses a qualitative approach to explore how civil society seeks to advocate before and after the 2024 elections, especially in terms of the use of SIREKAP. The results of the study show several important findings. First, e-recapitulation is an election technology model that is considered more relevant for the Indonesian context from the perspective of civil society groups. Second, there was inadequate preparation and implementation of SIREKAP, which caused problems during the 2024 elections. Third, civil society groups consider that the issue of public communication, which is less responsive to the KPU, worsens the public's perception of SIREKAP. Fourth, civil society organizations have been active in providing recommendations and conducting supervision as well as innovating election technology, but the KPU's response to these inputs is still limited. This finding shows that civil society groups have advocated optimally regarding the use of SIREKAP even though they did not receive a significant response from the KPU as the core stakeholder of election technology users. This shows the importance of actively involving civil society in monitoring implementation and starting from the planning and evaluation stages of SIREKAP to increase transparency, accountability, and public trust in future election results.
