Abstract

This study aims to measure the effectiveness of group counseling based on a cognitive-behavioral approach in reducing anger levels and improving social skills of junior high school students. The study was conducted using a quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest on eight seventh grade students who were selected purposively. The instruments used included the student anger scale (SKS) and the social skills scale (SKS), each with a score of 10-50. The intervention was carried out in 4 group counseling sessions for 2 weeks. The results of data analysis using paired t-teat showed a significant decrease in students' anger level (t(7) = 10.52, p <0.001) and a significant increase in students' social skills (t(7) = 12.34, p < 0.001). This research supports the importance of structured emotional interventions to support student learning.
