Abstract

Numeracy is an essential skill that students need to understand and apply mathematical concepts in their daily lives. However, mathematics instruction that tends to focus on solving routine problems can limit students’ opportunities to connect mathematics with their surrounding environment and culture. This situation was a key concern in the implementation of the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) in Tantan Village. As an effort to strengthen numeracy literacy, the PPK Ormawa IMATIKA FKIP University of Jambi team implemented Etnuno as an ethnomathematics-based learning medium at the LENTERA TANTAN Numeracy Literacy Corner. Etnuno is an educational card game that combines game concepts with mathematical problems within the cultural and social context of the local community. This journal article aims to describe the implementation of Etnuno in supporting the numeracy literacy of students in Tantan Village. The implementation involved introducing the medium, explaining the rules of the game, practice sessions, guidance, and evaluation. The results of the implementation show that Etnuno can support numeracy literacy activities through understanding information, solving problems, and performing calculations independently. Etnuno can serve as an alternative learning medium that integrates games, mathematics, and local culture.
