Abstract

The Islamic boarding school (pesantren) system requires students (santri) to adhere to strict rules and intensive academic activities, where learning discipline is a crucial indicator of educational success but remains insufficiently studied among female students. This quantitative study with a cross-sectional correlational design aimed to analyze the relationship between learning motivation and learning discipline among female santri at Pondok Pesantren An-Nawawi Berjan. A total sampling approach yielded 84 female santri as research participants. Data were collected using validated questionnaire instruments alongside attendance records, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and the non-parametric Chi-Square (χ^2) inferential test at a significance level of α=0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents possessed high learning motivation (69.0%) and exhibited high learning discipline (78.6%). The hypothesis test yielded a statistical value of χ^2=8.912 (df=1) with a significance value of p=0.003 (p<0.05), proving that the hypothesis is accepted and there is a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and learning discipline among female santri. This study contributes theoretically to enriching the literature on Islamic educational psychology regarding student self-regulation and has practical implications for pesantren administrators to strengthen intrinsic motivation as a key strategy in fostering a sustainable culture of learning discipline.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum management and to analyze its influence on learning quality in State and Private Islamic Senior High Schools (Madrasah Aliyah) in Magelang Regency. The background of this study is grounded in the limited number of empirical studies that quantitatively examine the causal relationship between PAI curriculum management and learning quality at the Madrasah Aliyah level, particularly in the Magelang Regency context. This research employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto research design of a causal-associative nature. The population consisted of PAI teachers and educational staff involved in curriculum management across Madrasah Aliyah in Magelang Regency, with the sample determined through a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had previously been tested for validity and reliability, and were subsequently analyzed through classical assumption tests and simple linear regression analysis using SPSS software. The results indicate that the implementation of PAI curriculum management has a significant and positive effect on learning quality, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 50.7%, meaning that curriculum management explains most of the variation in learning quality, while the remainder is influenced by other factors outside the research model. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening the planning, organizing, actuating, and evaluation of PAI curriculum on an ongoing basis as a strategic effort to improve learning quality in Madrasah Aliyah. This study recommends strengthening the managerial capacity of educators and expanding the research variables in future studies.
