<![CDATA[This internship report investigates the importance of social interaction for international students at the University of Northampton, United Kingdom. Recognizing that social contact significantly impacts academic achievement, psychological well-being, and cultural adaptation, the study explores how social dynamics shape international students’ experiences in a diverse and inclusive educational setting. The double degree program context highlights the complexity of managing academic and social integration across two universities. Through qualitative observations and secondary data analysis, the report identifies critical challenges faced by international students, including language barriers, cultural differences, social isolation, and experiences of racism and depression. The report discusses the dual role of social interaction as both an opportunity for intellectual and personal growth and a source of potential difficulty requiring support. On one hand, it enables intellectual expansion through cross-cultural exchanges and peer support networks that enhance learning and resilience. On the other, inadequate interactions can intensify isolation, cultural misunderstandings, and mental health strains like depression without targeted university interventions. The University of Northampton’s strategic initiatives aimed at fostering inclusivity, respect for diversity, and supportive social networks contribute to improved adjustment and well-being among international students.
