Abstract

Optimal employee performance is a key factor in a company’s success in achieving its established goals. This is also the expectation at CV Mulya Mekar Mandiri Industri Garmen Majalaya (Bandung Regency), where every employee is hoped to deliver maximum performance. However, based on the 2024 performance appraisal results, there are still employees whose performance falls into the poor and very poor categories. Furthermore, the physical work environment at CV Mulya Mekar Mandiri Industri Garmen Majalaya remains suboptimal, evinced by the persistently elevated incidence of employee absenteeism and tardiness, phenomena that may bespeak insufficient work motivation. The objective underpinning this inquiry is to examine and evaluate the influence exerted, both severally and in concomitance, by the physical work environment and work motivation upon employee performance. A quantitative research design is deployed, harnessing descriptive quantitative and associative quantitative approaches, with the data subjected to multiple linear regression and the coefficient of determination. Comprising the respondents is the entirety of the employee population at CV Mulya Mekar Mandiri Industri Garmen Majalaya. Several findings emerge from this inquiry. First, employee performance is positively affected by the physical work environment. Second, employee performance is likewise positively affected by work motivation. Third, when considered jointly, the physical work environment and work motivation exert a positive effect upon employee performance. Taken together, these findings evince that ameliorations to the physical work environment, coupled with fortified work motivation, may abet the enhancement of employee performance at CV Mulya Mekar Mandiri Industri Garmen Majalaya.
