Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy remains a public health issue that increases the risk of maternal and perinatal complications. One preventive measure is the administration of iron supplements; however, their effectiveness is influenced by adherence to the regimen and the correct dosing schedule. This study aims to analyze the relationship between adherence to the iron supplement regimen and dosing schedule and hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia. The study employed a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 40 anemic pregnant women selected using purposive sampling at the Imas Malarohani, S.Keb. Maternal and Child Health Clinic (TPMB). Data were collected via a questionnaire regarding compliance and intake patterns of iron supplements, while hemoglobin levels were measured using a digital hemoglobin meter. Analyses were conducted using univariate and bivariate methods, specifically the Spearman’s rank correlation test (Rho), as the data were not normally distributed. The results indicated a significant association between TTD consumption adherence and hemoglobin levels (p=0.000; r=0.539), demonstrating a positive correlation of moderate strength. It was concluded that adherence to iron supplement intake and the accuracy of the intake regimen play an important role in increasing hemoglobin levels in anemic pregnant women. Education, counseling, and monitoring of adherence to iron supplement intake need to be strengthened as part of evidence-based antenatal care.
