Abstract

Antenatal care is a health service provided by healthcare professionals to pregnant women throughout their pregnancy in accordance with antenatal care service standards. The utilization of antenatal care is important for detecting high-risk pregnancies and deliveries, thereby helping to reduce maternal and infant mortality. One of the factors influencing ANC visits is support from the husband or family. Husband support refers to the support provided to the wife, both in terms of physical and psychological comfort, which can motivate pregnant women to seek healthcare services and comply with ANC visits to maintain the health of both the mother and fetus. This study aimed to determine the effect of family support on compliance with antenatal care (ANC) visits among second-trimester pregnant women in the working area of Amuntai Selatan Public Health Center. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving 82 respondents. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed that family support had an effect on compliance with ANC visits among second-trimester pregnant women, with a p-value of 0.000. In conclusion, pregnant women need to improve their knowledge of pregnancy danger signs and the importance of ANC examinations, while family support is also needed to remind pregnant women to complete their recommended pregnancy examinations.
