Abstract

The rising rate of sectio caesarea (SC) deliveries in Indonesia contributes significantly to postoperative pain, which impedes maternal recovery. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of early mobilization in reducing pain intensity among post-SC mothers. A pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design was employed involving 30 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) at 6 and 24 hours postoperatively and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. Results demonstrated a decline in mean NRS score from 7.13 to 3.47, with the proportion of severe pain decreasing from 66.7% to 6.7%. Statistical analysis yielded Z = −4.667 and p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). Early mobilization is proven effective in reducing postoperative pain intensity following SC and is recommended as a standardized non-pharmacological intervention within postpartum nursing care protocols.
