<![CDATA[This study aims to examine the influence of Western culture on the lifestyles of Indonesian adolescents in the era of globalization and social media. Using a mixed-method approach that combines descriptive quantitative and qualitative analyses, data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 55 student respondents aged 16–26 years. The findings indicate that Western culture has a significant influence on the lifestyles of Indonesian adolescents, particularly in the areas of fashion, language, and entertainment consumption. A total of 54 out of 55 respondents admitted to engaging in code-switching (mixing English into conversations) in their daily communication. Meanwhile, TikTok, Instagram, and Netflix were identified as the most dominant channels for the dissemination of Western culture. Positive impacts reported by respondents include improved English language proficiency, broader perspectives, and enhanced creativity and innovation. Conversely, concerning negative impacts include a declining interest in local culture, the emergence of consumerist and individualistic behaviors driven by the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) phenomenon, and the adoption of lifestyles that are inconsistent with local norms. Nevertheless, the majority of adolescents (90.9%) demonstrated critical awareness by recognizing the importance of filtering foreign cultural influences before adopting them. These findings suggest the need to strengthen cultural and digital literacy among adolescents, encourage the active involvement of parents and educational institutions, and promote government support for the digitalization of local culture as an effort to maintain a balance between global openness and the preservation of national cultural identity.]]>
