Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the interactive quiz application Quizizz on the engagement of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 42, Lubuklinggau City, in the learning process. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Forty students were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The research instruments consisted of a student engagement questionnaire covering behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects, as well as an observation sheet. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, then analyzed using an independent t-test. The results showed a significant increase in student engagement in the experimental group after using the Quizizz application. The average student engagement score in the experimental group increased from 68.45 to 85.30, with an N-Gain of 0.53 (medium-high category), while the control group only experienced an N-Gain increase of 0.16 (low category). The t-test results showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between student engagement using the Quizizz app and students using conventional learning methods. Thus, the use of the Quizizz interactive quiz app significantly increased elementary school students' engagement in the learning process.
