Abstract

This study aims to analyze the basic technical skills of forehand strokes of junior athletes at PTM Kenanga, Lubuklinggau City. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, vidio, and documentation of 10 athletes. The results showed that the athletes' forehand skills varied, ranging from "very good" to "poor," with common weaknesses such as body measurements, inappropriate foot position, and inaccurate stroke direction. Supporting factors for skills consisted of athlete motivation, coach guidance, and available facilities. Meanwhile, skill inhibition stems from limited practice time, lack of individual supervision, and minimal technique reinforcement. This research is expected to serve as a reference for improving the quality of basic forehand technique training in junior table tennis athletes.
