Abstract

Pencak silat is a traditional Indonesian martial art that contains physical, mental, and character education values. In physical education learning, pencak silat plays an important role as a medium for developing motor skills, discipline, sportsmanship, and student character building. One of the main aspects of pencak silat learning is the mastery of basic techniques as the foundation of movement skills. This study aims to describe the learning of three basic pencak silat techniques, namely stances, punches, and kicks, in physical education subjects. This research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 11 students who participated in pencak silat learning at school. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and literature study. The results showed that the systematic and gradual learning of three basic pencak silat techniques improved students’ understanding of basic movements, body coordination, and discipline, with most students demonstrating a moderate level of mastery. These findings indicate that learning three basic pencak silat techniques can be effectively implemented in physical education to support the achievement of learning objectives.
