Abstract

Burnout is a psychological issue frequently experienced by employees within organizations as a result of excessive workloads and unfavorable working environments. This study aims to analyze the effect of workload and work environment on employee burnout at PT Semen Padang. This research employed a quantitative approach with an associative design and a survey method. The population consisted of 81 employees from the Finance Department and the Human Resources Department of PT Semen Padang. A saturated sampling (census) technique was applied, in which all members of the population were included as research participants. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire using a 4-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics Version 26. The results indicate that, partially, workload has a positive and significant effect on employee burnout (t = 12.503 > ttable = 1.001; Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). The work environment also has a positive and significant effect on employee burnout (t = 10.364 > ttable = 1.001; Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). Simultaneously, workload and work environment have a significant effect on employee burnout (F = 80.695; Sig. = 0.000). The coefficient of determination (R²) shows that workload and work environment explain 67.4% of the variation in employee burnout, while the remaining 32.6% is influenced by other variables outside the research model. The findings highlight the importance of managing workloads proportionally and creating a supportive work environment to minimize the risk of employee burnout.
