Abstract

The weak strength of the U-bar clamp material for the piping system grip is a problem faced. The manufacturing objective is to obtain a U-bar clamp from ASTM A36 steel, 15 cm long for a 1.5” pipe support with M10 bolt threads. The manufacturing method includes: design of a 15 cm long U-bar clamp for a 1.5” pipe with M10 bolt threads, selection of ASTM A36 steel material, cutting 10 mm diameter steel steel to 15 cm long, making M10 bolt threads at both ends for 20 mm, bending the steel U-bar clamp with a distance between the axes of 48 mm, making a clamp plate measuring 75x24x2 mm in length with 2 holes of 11 mm in diameter, coating the U-clamp and clamp plate by immersing it in molten Zinc at 500oC for 1 minute, installing 2 M10 nuts, and checking the quality and dimensions. The manufacturing results are in the form of ASTM A36 steel bar U-clamps, 15 cm long for 1.5” pipes with M10 bolt threads 20 mm long, total production costs of IDR 11,000/unit, and a process duration of 12 minutes/unit which implies that the steel bar U-clamps are strong enough to support water-filled pipes with an installation distance of every 1 m and are rust-resistant with galvanizing.
