Abstract

In post-conflict regions of Indonesia such as Aceh and Maluku, sports have been used as a tool for reconciliation, healing, and justice. This paper examines how sports contribute to peace-building and the promotion of social justice in areas scarred by ethnic, religious, and political conflict. It looks at community-based sports programs, local tournaments, and peace initiatives that use sports as a medium for dialogue, forgiveness, and unity. Drawing on case studies, interviews with participants, and analysis of the social dynamics in these regions, the paper assesses the effectiveness of sports in fostering social cohesion and justice in post-conflict settings. It argues that sports, when designed inclusively and with a focus on justice, can serve as a powerful catalyst for peace and rebuilding fractured communities in Indonesia.
