Abstract

The development of the digital economy has created platform-based business models that connect service providers and users through digital systems. This model offers easier access, transaction efficiency, and market expansion, but it also raises ethical issues related to data, algorithms, digital labor relations, Islamic fintech, and the potential emergence of digital riba. This article aims to analyze Islamic business ethics in the platform economy, particularly in marketplaces, the sharing economy, Islamic fintech, and issues related to data and algorithms. This study uses a literature review method with a descriptive-analytical approach by examining relevant literature, Islamic business ethics concepts, and digital economy studies. The discussion shows that the platform economy functions not only as a transaction space but also as a digital power structure that regulates product visibility, commissions, service distribution, rating systems, and user data utilization. From an Islamic perspective, digital business practices must be based on the principles of justice, trustworthiness, transparency, public benefit, and freedom from riba, gharar, and maysir. Marketplaces need to ensure fair opportunities for business actors, the sharing economy must consider the protection of platform workers, and Islamic fintech must maintain contract clarity and ethical substance. This article concludes that the platform economy should be developed through more transparent, fair, and Islamic ethics-based governance to create an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem.
