Abstract

This study aims to determine the competency of Da'I Duri YMBU. The focus of this study is two things: First, Substantive Da'i Competence. Second, Methodological Da'i Competence has the ability to develop clear programs to improve the competence of Da'I substantively and methodologically, such as short-term programs and long-term programs.  The form of this research is qualitative research. Meanwhile, data collection techniques are 1) Observation, 2) Interview, 3) Documentation. The data analysis techniques are data redaction, data presentation, conclusions and verification. The results of research conducted on da'i competencies show several important findings. First, substantive competence, which includes mastery of religious knowledge, aqidah and fiqh, is still a major concern. However, research also shows that methodological competencies, such as the ability to communicate, interact with various groups, and utilize technology, are increasingly needed in the context of modern da'wah. Second, research also reveals that there is a gap between the competencies possessed by preachers and the demands of the times. Many YMBU Duri preachers still need to improve their abilities in facing the challenges of globalization, pluralism and developments in information technology. Further research also highlights the importance of developing the character of preachers. Apart from intellectual competence, preachers also need to have strong character, such as sincerity, patience and integrity. Good character will be the main asset for a preacher in carrying out his missionary duties. These competencies must include not only scientific aspects of religion, but also social, communication and leadership skills.
