Abstract

Uterine involution is a significant physiological process during the postpartum period, marked by a gradual reduction in uterine fundal height following childbirth. An inadequate decrease may increase the risk of postpartum complications, including uterine subinvolution and postpartum haemorrhage. Early mobilisation is a non-pharmacological strategy that can facilitate uterine involution. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of early mobilisation in reducing uterine fundal height among postpartum mothers on days 1–3 at Babirik Health Center. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach was employed from February to May 2026. The sample consisted of 12 respondents, including 6 in the intervention group and 6 in the control group, selected through purposive sampling. Uterine fundal height was measured using a measuring tape, while early mobilisation was implemented progressively from 6–8 hours postpartum. Data were analysed using the Paired t-test and independent t-test with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that the mean uterine fundal height in the intervention group decreased from 11.2 cm before intervention to 3.1 cm after intervention. The control group showed a more gradual decline. Statistical results showed p-values of 0.000 and 0.001 (p<0.05), indicating that early mobilisation effectively reduces uterine fundal height. Early mobilisation is a safe and simple non-pharmacological strategy to accelerate uterine involution and support postpartum recovery.
