Abstract

. In general, the definition of sport is a person's physical and psychological activity which is useful for maintaining and improving the quality of a person's health after exercise. Islam views that health is very important because health is a human right, something that is in accordance with human nature because Islam is a perfect and comprehensive religion, which covers all aspects of human life. Islam and sports have a correlation or relationship because every sport always prioritizes sportsmanship which is closely related to honesty. Honesty really needs to be instilled in every sports person in order to maintain a sportsmanlike image in every match. The Prophet Muhammad SAW, according to a hadith narrated by Imam Bukhari, advised his friends (including all Muslims who must follow his sunnah) to be able to master sports. Especially horse riding, swimming and archery. The three types of sports recommended by the Prophet Muhammad SAW can be considered the source of all types of sports that exist today. All three contain aspects of health, skill, accuracy, sportsmanship and competition. Several members of the Indonesian Ulema Council have the same view regarding sports law according to Islamic teachings, that sports law is Sunnah or is recommended to do so as long as it is implemented according to Islamic teachings. However, if the implementation is contrary to Islamic law, such as wearing clothes that reveal the private parts, arouse sexual desire and lead to immoral acts, then the law is haram. There is no conflict between sport and religion, instead they complement and support each other in different activities. The controversy that occurs is not a question of its value and benefits in principle, but rather the media used by sports players, such as; dress, individual goals in doing sports.
