Abstract

The background of this study is the ongoing debate regarding patient autonomy in the context of medical decisions involving euthanasia. The aim of this research is to analyze the interaction between these three perspectives and their influence on medical decisions related to euthanasia. The method employed is a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through documentation from various sources. The findings indicate that euthanasia is prohibited by Indonesian law and rejected by medical ethics and Islamic teachings, despite pressures to respect patient autonomy. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of considering legal, ethical, and religious norms in medical decision-making, as well as the need for dialogue among medical, legal, and religious communities to enhance understanding of this issue.
