Abstract

Indonesia's economy currently faces challenges of instability, where the financial and business sectors play a crucial role in economic stability. Following the monetary crisis of 1998, there has been a shift in societal mindset from being employees to becoming entrepreneurs, with private financial institutions collaborating through Islamic economic principles that have proven to be more resilient in times of crisis. This article explores ethics in Islamic economics, focusing on sharia-compliant business as an implementation of Allah's commandments grounded in ethical values. Business activities, defined as economic efforts to generate profit, must prioritize responsibility toward consumers and society. Awareness of the importance of business ethics is growing among Muslim entrepreneurs, as Islamic teachings provide guidance exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). This research aims to identify issues in business practices and offer recommended solutions, hoping to strengthen the ethical foundation in economic activities in Indonesia. Through the application of Islamic ethical principles, it is expected that businesses will not only focus on profit but also on sustainability and societal welfare.
