Abstract

Wudu water, an essential part of Islamic worship, must come from a pure and clean source. In Indonesia's peatland areas, clean water is often scarce due to the murky nature of peat water, low pH, and high dissolved content. This study aims to optimize the use of peat water as a source of wudu water through a filtration method. A literature review approach is used, covering peatland characteristics, water management techniques, and sustainability principles. The proposed filtration method utilizes zeolite and activated sand media with varying thickness to improve peat water quality. Results indicate that the filtration method effectively reduces turbidity, Fe, and Mn content, and increases pH, meeting the clean water quality standards set by Permenkes No. 32 of 2017. This study suggests that peat water filtration could be a sustainable solution for meeting the need for wudu water in peatland areas.
