Abstract

Physics learning on the topic of work and energy at the junior high school level still faces challenges, particularly the low cognitive learning outcomes of students due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods that inadequately engage students actively. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the Quantum Teaching learning model assisted by Wordwall media in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of eighth-grade junior high school students. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The research population consisted of all eighth-grade students at Amal Mulia Boarding School Pekanbaru, with samples randomly assigned to an experimental class and a control class. The research instrument was a 20-item multiple-choice test designed to measure students’ cognitive domain. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using a t-test. The results showed that the average cognitive learning outcome of students in the experimental class was 71.11, categorized as good, while the control class obtained an average score of 52.67, categorized as fairly good. The t-test results indicated a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, demonstrating a statistically significant difference between the two classes. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Quantum Teaching learning model assisted by Wordwall media is effective in improving students’ cognitive learning outcomes on the topic of work and energy for eighth-grade junior high school students.
